The ominous vault is a new block that will eject unique loot items like the heavy core, the wind burst enchanted book, The Flow Banner pattern, the Creator music disc, and the flow armor trimming smithing template. It can be found in the new trial chamber structure, and there will be multiple ominous vaults throughout the trial chambers, in the combat chambers or off the corridors. The ominous vault is in the 1.21 update. To get them currently, you have to turn on the experiments. If there are any changes, I’ll do an updated video.
How to Find the Ominous Vault

Unlocking the Ominous Vault
To unlock the ominous vault, you will need to start an ominous trial. This is done by getting the ominous bottle, drinking it to get the bad omen effect, and triggering an ominous trial when you’re within a 14-block range of the trial spawner, turning the trial spawner into an ominous trial spawner.
The ominous trial will have a 15-minute duration, and the level of the ominous trial will be the same as the level of the bottle. Once you have defeated the total mobs that spawn from a trial spawner (six for most mobs and two for the breeze), there’s a 30% chance to eject an ominous trial key. The ominous vault can be unlocked with the ominous trial key once for each player.
Ominous Vault Loot
The ominous vault can eject three to six stacks of items. There are three different loot tables that the ominous vault draws from. These are the common, rare, and unique items.
- The common items are the emeralds, wind charge, arrow of slowness, ominous bottle, crossbow, block of iron, gold and apple, diamond gear, and the enchanted books for the new mace enchantments, which are the breach and the density enchantments.
- The rare items are the emerald, wind charge, arrow slowness, diamond, and ominous bottle. There is an overlap of the common and rare that increases the chance of getting certain items.
- The unique items are the flow armor trim smithing template, the Creator music disc, enchanted golden apple, the float Banner pattern, and the heavy core. These items are only found through the ominous vault, except for the enchanted golden apple.
There’s a 75% chance for there to be an item from the unique loot table in each ominous vault. Each item in the loot table is weighted differently.
Item Drop Probabilities
Just to give you an idea of how likely you are to get some of these items:
- It would take unlocking on average two ominous vaults to get the wind charges.
- Four for the flow armor trim smithing template.
- Six to get the float Banner pattern.
- 13 to get the heavy core.
- 13 for the Creator music disc.
- 16 to get the breach or density enchanted book.
- And 33 to get the wind burst enchanted book.
Also, the breach and density enchantments you can get through the enchanting table or villager trading. The wind burst enchantment is only found through the ominous vault.
The Heavy Core and Ominous Vault Count
Of these items, the most valuable is the heavy core, as it is needed to craft the mace with breeze rods. The mace will accumulate damage based on how far the player has fallen.
The amount of ominous vaults in the trial chamber can vary depending on how it generates and the different rooms. The one I looked at had eight ominous vaults that I could find, although there could be more. It might take one or two trial chambers to get the heavy core, maybe more if you’re really unlucky. It should be possible to get most of the unique items in an ominous vault in one trial chamber.
