What Does the Density Enchantment Do in Minecraft?

The Density enchantment is a Mace-exclusive enchantment that has been added in the Minecraft 1.21 update. It increases the damage done by the Mace.

How to Get the Density Enchantment in Minecraft

The Density enchantment is in the Minecraft 1.21 update. To get it, you will have to turn on the experiments. If there are any changes, I’ll do an updated post.

The Density enchantment can be enchanted on the Mace using the Enchanting Table. A Density enchanted book can be acquired from the Ominous Vault as one of the loot items, ejected at a 6.1% chance. This enchanted book can either be a Density or Breach enchanted book, so it is half of this, so about a 3% chance.

To unlock the Ominous Vault, you have to consume an Ominous Bottle to get the Bad Omen effect, to be within range of a Trial Spawner to start the Ominous Trial and turn it into the Ominous Trial Spawner. If you defeat the total mobs from an Ominous Trial Spawner, there’s a 30% chance to eject an Ominous Trial Key that can be used to unlock the Ominous Vault.

The Density enchantment does appear through the enchanted book trade with Librarian villagers and through other means like fishing.

What Does the Density Enchantment Do in Minecraft?

Density will increase the damage by 0.5 per level for each block fallen. The maximum level of Density is five. At level one, it does 0.5 damage, and 2.5 damage at level five. Just a reminder, that is per block. This increases the amount of damage you can do by a lot.

The Mace will do damage based on how far the player has fallen. If you fall more than 1.5 blocks and hit a mob with a Mace, this will perform a smash attack and negate any fall damage from that point. Also, if you hit a smash attack, this will also perform a critical hit that does even more damage.

One important part is that the Density enchantment is incompatible with the Breach, Smite, and Bane of Arthropods. This means you can only have one of these enchantments on your Mace.

Breach will reduce the armor effectiveness by 15% per level, with the maximum level being four, so 60% at most. The Breach is probably best for PVP. The Smite and Bane of Arthropods do 2.5 damage per level, with the maximum level being five. The Smite does damage to undead mobs like zombies, zombie variants, and the Wither. The Arthropods affects mobs like the spider and bees.

I think of the four enchantments, Density is the best as it increases the amount of damage and it affects every mob or player.
